Attendance Policy
At Vision Youth Academy, consistent attendance is key to student success and the overall quality of our programs. Sessions are held Saturdays and students are expected to attend regularly. Each student is allowed one excused absence per semester. This policy does not apply to final rehearsals before a performance—attendance at these rehearsals is mandatory. Missing these crucial sessions may result in the student being unable to participate in the upcoming performance. We understand that emergencies can occur. In the event of a family emergency, students and parents should promptly communicate with VYA leadership to discuss the situation and any necessary accommodations. Our goal is to work together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed while maintaining the integrity of our programs.
At Vision Youth Academy, we strive to extend educational experiences beyond the Saturday rehearsal. "The Experience" is our way of providing students with unique opportunities to grow and explore their potential. Throughout the school year, students can participate in a variety of enriching activities at no additional cost. These experiences are designed to inspire and equip students with the tools and insights they need to pursue their passions and succeed in their future endeavors. These experiences include:
Masterclasses:
Part of our mission includes connecting the dots for our students in terms of providing the opportunity for them to learn more about careers in the music and media fields. We place greatness in front of our students, so they can shake hands and talk directly to them. Last year we welcomed both local and globally recognized professionals to share their stories of what they do and how they arrived to where they are. Most importantly, they shared how their walk with Jesus shaped the professionals they are today. We are excited for more of these moments in the coming school year!
Songwriting & Production:
Students have the opportunity to take part in our after school songwriting and production program. In these sessions, students develop skills that allow them to write and produce their own music. Participants of these sessions are then featured as writers and artists in our VYA Song Book series- an album/EP released at the end of each school year.
*Be on the lookout for VYA Song Book, Chapter 2, soon to be available on streaming platforms!
College Visits & Trips
While we understand that college might not be for everyone, we like to create opportunities for our students to see some of the college programs that are available. We also take a trip to the NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants) to help expose our students to the many opportunities the creative arts industry has to offer.
Worship Services
Each year we partner with churches and our students take up an opportunity to exercise their gifts and teachings while leading congregations in worship.
Auditions
Auditions are open for students ages 13-18 in the Pierce County, WA, area. We are looking to take on more motivated students for our second school year! Vision Youth Academy auditions are performed and submitted virtually. Once students submit their audition, they will be contacted to schedule a zoom interview.
Auditions are still open!
*Please note that there is an audition fee of $15
